Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. Her first single was released with the label on October 21 of 2016, entitled Pho, and she was able to begin gaining attention. Shea Butter Baby, her first album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music to the Internet in 2012, when she released her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. She continued to upload her music on the internet in 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes, at Sweat It out on July 21, 2015. Her songs were circulating among the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him for some of the references for Rihanna. On the 8th of December, it was confirmed that she had been contracted to Dreamville Records. Backseat is a track that which she co-wrote together with Cozz to record The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. In the month of October, she released her first EP Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening artist on behalf of J. Cole on his track Change in the year 2017 and did a performance on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. She also appeared as a guest on two tracks with EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas' Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July, 2018. The music video launched in September. The 9th of November saw her release two additional singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. In November 13, she came out with two additional singles, the No One or Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released with her debut single the 26th of February in 2019, for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared alongside Cole in Creed II's sound track. Creed II sound track on November 16. The 20th of February, 2019, a music clip was released for the song. It has already received 3 million viewers on YouTube during its initial week. She was the support act for 6LACK during the From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
